- Good Morning NAIA Hoops Nation! As we move to 1 Division next season I am reminded that this is the last week of having a NAIA DII Conference Tournament Week. While there is still excitement to be had this season, it is also a sad time of year, as Seniors play their last games, and coaching rumors start to pop.
- Our Monday game slate may have been a small one, but the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference was in action, and it turned into an interesting night. Before we dive in deeper, here are the current standings after last nights games:
- We had 2 circled games from last night and both turned into upset wins by the home teams. In the first game, Edward Waters defeated #14 Xavier 79-65, to complete the regular season sweep of XULA.
- The good thing for XULA though, is that #25 Talladega defeated #12 Tougaloo 78-65. The Tougaloo loss, means that the GCAC Regular Season Title will be on the line next Monday, when Tougaloo travels to Xavier. The Talladega win was a BIG one for them as they keep their 1 game lead on Dillard and Edward Waters for the 3 seed in the GCAC.
- Our last circled game of the evening featured #7 William Penn defeating MidAmerica Nazarene 112-79. A side note, both teams had some absolutely monster dunks in this game. You could do a NAIA Top 5 plays from the dunks in this game alone. The win though, means that William Penn won their 4th Heart of America Conference Title in the first 5 years they have been in the league.
- In the game last night, MidAmerica Nazarene senior forward, Dante Scroggins joined the 1k club. Congrats Dante!
- The NAIA DII Tournament starts tonight with opening round games in the North Star and The Sun Conference. We posted our NAIA DII Conference Tournament Breakdown that we posted yesterday. Make sure to check it out for information, links to each leagues tournament page, as well as links to watch games!
- After last nights DI action, we will have the updated DI Conference Tournament guide posted later today! Tad also put together a nice piece to get ready for tonight’s DII action, so stay tuned for that as well!
