Monday, January 11th NAIA Games

Games of the Day:

ย 20 Saint Francis (IN) @ Grace 5:00pm ETย Live Video

Grace is coming off of a huge upset win over #1 Indiana Wesleyan. Both teams sit at 2-2 in Crossroads League play and a win today would put that team in 4th place in the CL standings. Saint Francis is 2nd in the NAIA in 3FGM. and 4th in assist to turnover ratio. Grace will need to guar the 3pt line tonight to get the victory.

RV Oklahoma Wesleyan @ Avila 6:00pm CTย Live Video

This game is a battle of two teams looking to take over 2nd place in the KCAC. Avila had won 7 straight before losing to Tabor this weekend. OKWU has won 6 of it’s last 7 games. This game should be a fun one in the KCAC! Both teams playing well and while we still have a bit of time left in the regular season, games like this one can go a long ways in tie breakers at end of season!

Wayland Baptist @ 22 SAGU 8:45pm CTย Live Video

On Saturday, Wayland made a huge come back from down 18pts late in 2nd half. The Freshman Devin Avent went for 36pts in the win over RV Texas Wesleyan. SAGU is a good team who still hasn’t had All-American Nykolas Mason play in a game yet. One they get him back and start to fully click again, this is a dangerous team. Wayland can’t get themselves down big in this one and expect to come back. SAGU is long and athletic and will put a hurting on you quick if you allow them too.

Five Players To Watch

#1 Ryan Batte 6’5 F Thomas More

We have mentioned Ryan before as a player to watch, but his motor and drive to compete and win makes him so much fun to watch. This Thomas More group is coming off of a 40 point thrashing of #6 Georgetown. A game in which Batte went for 19pts, 11rebs and 7assts. His size and motor make him a tough matchup for anyone. Look for him to have another big game today!

#2 Malik Amos 6’2 G Dillard

Our first look at the electric Malik Amos this season! The kid can flat score the basketball. The All-American will be a GCAC Player of the Year Candidate. Dillard’s first game of the season is today in GCAC play. We expect this game to be fast paced and once Amos gets going, he is tough to guard.

#5 Jordan Starr 6’7 The Master’s

Jordan is the son of The Master’s Head Coach Kelvin Starr. Jordan is a big, do it all type guard who is having a great year for #12 The Master’s. He is currently 6th in the NAIA in assists per game at 6.33 and 22nd in defensive rebounds per game at 7.5ppg. Jordan’s length and size make him a tough matchup and he should continue to have a great Junior season.

#10 Haden Deaton 6’5 F Grace

While Jake Waddling and Elijah Malone surpassed the 20pt mark in the big win over #1 Indiana Wesleyan, Haden still went for 16pts, 3reb and 5assts in the win. The Senior is averaging nearly 16pts per game. In the two games Grace has had in January, Haden has gone for 21pts and 16pts. The Lancers have another big game today against #20 Saint Francis. If Haden can keep at his average or higher, Grace could see back to back Top 25 wins!

#10 Kaleb Stokes 6’6 Oklahoma Wesleyan

The Sophomore is 4th in the KCAC in scoring at 18.36 ppg. In 11 games this season he has only been held to single diget points once. That was against 7’0 Seth Maxwell and #1 Indiana Wesleyan. Kaleb is having a great Sophomore season and will need to have another big performance today against Avila in a battle for 2nd place in the KCAC!
