February 10th NAIA Games

Games of the Day:

13 Marian @ Grace 7pm ETย Live Video

This is a BIG game for Grace tonight. The Crossroads League still has a chance to get a 4th team into the NAIA Tournament this season, but the middle of the conference seems to keep beating up on one another. Grace has some great wins on the season already, but also have some tough losses. They can really make a statement and strong bid for a 4th CL qualifier tonight with an upset over a very good Marian team.

Olivet Nazarene @ Saint Ambrose 7:30pm CTย Live Video

The Top 2 teams in the CCAC go head to head tonight. ONU has now won 5 straight and are getting great play from Alex Gross and John Contant. They head across state lines tonight to battle a tough St Ambrose team that has the size to matchup with ONU. John Kerr has been great for Ambrose inside the paint. If the Bees are going to take over 1st place in the CCAC, they will need to limit Gross and Content.ย

18 Bethel (IN) @ Ottawa 8pm CTย Live Video

Two of the Top Four teams in the KCAC battle it out today, but this Game of the Day selection is more based off the chance to get to watch two of the best players in the KCAC battle it out with Jaylon Scott of Bethel and Jaquan Daniels of Ottawa. Both of these guys have huge motors and will be all over the court tonight. It’s a matchup worth tuning into!

ย 21 Jamestown @ RV Northwestern 8pm CTย Live Video

A big game for both teams tonight. Jamestown can keep it’s GPAC title hopes in tact with a win. A loss and Morningside becomes the outright GPAC winners. Northwestern is still vying for a NAIA National Tournament birth. Resume builders are important right now and this would be a big resume building win. Two of the top BIGs in the country battle it out in this one as well as Sophomore Mason Walters of Jamestown will go head to head with Freshman Alex Van Kalsbeek of Northwestern.ย

Five Players To Watch

#12 Damek Mitchell 5’9 G Lewis-Clark State

– 34th in the NAIA in APG with 4.69

Damek remains one of the best PG’s in the NAIA. He impacts winning in so many ways. He can take over games by scoring if needed, but is always in control of the game. He is a great passer who knows how to get his teammates the ball in scoring spots. He is great defensively. He is a tough rebounder. There is so much to like about Damek Mitchell, but ultimately he is just a winner!

#25 John Contant 6’3 G Olivet Nazarene

Reigning CCAC Player of the Week

– 15TH in the NAIA in PPG with 22.091

ย

Content is coming off of a 42pt game against St Francis (IL). Him and Gross form a great inside/outside combination that makes it hard for teams to double down on Alex. Contant is a smart and crafty scorer and really keeps defenses off guessing.ย

#0 Jaquan Daniels 6’4 F Ottawa

– 23rd in the NAIA in Total Steals

– 32nd in the NAIA in SPG with 2.105

When Jaquan Daniels is clicking, he is arguably the best player in the KCAC. However, he has stretches where he’s struggled from the field and struggled to get himself going. He’s a high motor player who will love the challenge tonight of matching up with Jaylon Scott.ย

#21 Jaylon Scott 6’5 F Bethel (KS)

-6th in NAIA in DRPG with 8.74

– 8th in the NAIA in RPG with 10.89

– 10th in the NAIA in Total Rebounds

– 44th in the NAIA in Total Steals

– 48th in the NAIA in Total Assists

Jaylon Scott has been great for Bethel this season. His motor in their pressure defense has him flying all over the court making plays. This is going to be a war on the glass tonight between him and Daniels!

#33 Mason Walters 6’9 F Jamestown

– 1st in the NAIA in DRPG with 9.3

– 1st in the NAIA in Total Rebounds

– 2nd in the NAIA in RPG with 12.522

– 4th in the NAIA in Total Points

– 16th in the NAIA in PPG with 21.957

– 17th in the NAIA in FG% at 62.4%

– 23rd in the NAIA in ORPG with 3.217

ย

Mason is arguably the best Sophomore in the NAIA right now. He is a force around the rim and no matter how teams have tried to stop him this season, they have barely been able to even slow him down. It will be a fun matchup tonight with Van Kalsbeek of Northwestern.
