League Notes:
The top seed:ย Rochester
NAIA Locks:ย Rochester
NAIA Bubble Teams:ย ย Cornerstone, Indiana Tech
Best chances to win this tournament:ย Rochester, Cornerstone, Indiana Tech
Possible sleeper:ย ย Lourdes
KEY PLAYERS:
Virgil Walker Jr – Rochester
ย
Henry Speight – Madonna
ย
Josh Kline – Indiana Tech
Christian Rodriguez – Cornerstone
Clif Snow – Lourdes
ย
With very few games played, here are five guys who could have an impact on the WHAC Tournament Title. All of them are returning All-Americans with the exception of Virgil Walker Junior, who was an All-American, just transferred in from Graceland University.ย
ย
KEY TEAMS:
#1 Rochester – A little bit of a surprise in the league as Rochester wins the regular season WHAC title. Virgil Walker and Andre Johnson lead the way for this impressive group.
#2 Indiana Tech – Tech has had a tough schedule and are battle tested this season. The trio of Grant Smith, Rog Stein and Josh Kline are talented and fun to watch.
#3 Cornerstone – Christian Rodriguez may return for an extra season, but the All-American is special and fun to watch. He will look to lead his team to another WHAC Tournament Title.
UPSET SPECIAL:
#5 Lourdes – Dennis Hopson has had this team competing strong for the past two seasons. Clif Snow is one of the better players in the WHAC. They can definitely win it, but going to be a tough opening round matchup!
Quarterfinal Game Notes:
No. 8 Lawrence Tech (ย 4-8/6-9) at No. 1 Rochester
(10-1/11-2), 5ย p.m.ย ETย Live Video
Rochester 2-0
Rochester swept the season series and will look to make it 3 straight over Lawrence Tech tonight. They exuded a lot of emotion after winning the WHAC Regular Season Title the other night. If they have any energy left they should be fine in this one.
No. 5 Lourdes (7-3/9-5) at No. 4 Madonna (6-1/8-2), 7 p.m.
ETย Live Video
No regular season matchup
Henry Speight of Madonna and Clif Snow of Lourdes are two of the best players in the league! This should be a great game between two teams who will fight hard on both ends of the floor.
No 6 Concordia (5-7/7-10) at No. 3 Cornerstone (9-3/12-5), 7
p.m. ETย Live Video
Cornerstone 1-0
Cornerstone took the regular season matchup 109-74. Christian Rodriguez and company are coming off of a devastating loss to end the regular season and will look to bounce back against a Concordia team that can shoot it from deep!
ย
No. 7 Aquinas (4-9/4-10) at No. 2 Indiana Tech (9-2/18-1), 8 p.m
ETย Live Video
Indiana Tech 1-0
No one in the league has played as many games as Indiana Tech. It will be interesting to see if that experience pays off in the tournament or not. They beat Aquinas by 13 almost a month ago.ย ย
OTHER NOTES:
WHJAC has (2) auto-bids: Regular Season Champ: Rochester and Tournament champ or Indiana Tech if Rochester wins it.
Best Quarterfinal Game:#5 Lourdes vs #4Madonna
Our Pick To Win It:ย Cornerstone – Blew a 19pt lead at home to Rochester to move from the 1-seed to the 3. No way we are going against a Kim Elders Cornerstone team in the WHAC Tournament though. They have won it 5 of the last 10 years.
