#2 Texarkana 79 vs #3 LSU-Alexanrdia 73
League Notes:
The top seed: #2 LSU Shreveport
NAIA Locks: LSU Shreveport
NAIA Bubble Teams: Texas A&M Texarkana, LSU Alexandria
Best chances to win this tournament: LSU Shreveport, Texas A&M Texarkana, LSU Alexandria
KEY PLAYERS:
Kadavion Evans – Shreveport : 20.5ppg, 6.7rpg 4.7arpg
One of the most electric guars in the country. The RRAC Player of the Year is special. He battled sickness for a few weeks that slowed him down a bit, but still finished Top 6 in the RRAC in PPG, RPG and APG this season.
Kobe Powell – Texarkana: 15.2ppg, 5.3rpg,3.8apg, 2.3spg
The little guard is tough and quick. He leads his team in rebounding at 5’9! He is a 1st team All-RRAC selection this year and has take over a game type of talent.
KEY TEAMS:
#1 LSU-Shreveport – When they are at full strength they are the best team in the league. They have the top two scorers in the league in Evans and Washington. Coach Blankenship was named Coach of the Year and will have his guys ready to go.
#2 Texas A&M Texarkana – They lost to Shreveport in the RRAC Title game last year. After going to Alexandria and walking out with a win, they have cemented themselves as the 2nd best team in the Red River.
Championship Game Notes:
If we are being honest, these have looked like and have been the best two teams in the RRAC this season. Alexandria is good and put everything they had into upsetting #2 Shreveport, but they aren’t the same Alexandria team as we have seen in the past. They are built for the future. Shreveport and Texarkana Round 3 should be fun. Texarkana got blown out at Shreveport and then showed some toughness and grit at home battling with Shreveport for 38 minutes before Shreveport pulled away. This is a neutral site game and should be a fun one. Shreveport has the guards to handle the Texarkana press so it will be interesting to see if Coach Wall sticks with it, or if he comes with a new plan tonight. Either way, should be a fun one!
OTHER NOTES:
– Only four teams finished the season in the Red River Athletic Conference
– 3 remained ranked inside the Top 25, with Jarvis Christian being the only team that is not.
Our Pick To Win It: LSU Shreveport – They are the best team in the league and have the most talent. Evans and Washington are two of the most explosive guards in the country, but they also have Boyd and
