AMC Notes

  • Missouri Baptist has won 12 straight games and at 12-0 in league play and a win over Columbia this past weekend, they now hold a 3 game lead in the AMC Standings.
  • Missouri Baptist can lock up home court advantage and the AMC 1-seed with a win at Williams Baptist on Tuesday.

Biggest Games this Week

  • Thursday Feb. 10th
    • William Woods @ Central Baptist – 3-way race for the 2-seed in AMC tourney. A win puts you in contention for 2, loss could bump you to the 4.
    • Missouri Baptist @ Central Baptist – MoBap may have already won the AMC by this point, if not, they can with a win. CBC on the other hand is in a dogfight for seeding, so a home upset win would be huge headed into the final week of the regular season.

AAC Notes

  • A Montreat loss this weekend paired with a Union win means that Union is now back in front in the AAC Standings.
  • Both Reinhardt and Truett McConnell are red hot and climbing the standings quick and lurking behind both Union and Montreat if they let them back into the race.
  • Union has won 7 of the past 8 regular season Titles and have won 8 straight AAC Tournament titles!

Biggest Games this Week

  • Tuesday, February 8th
    • Union @ TN Wesleyan – A battle between the only two teams to get recognized in the NAIA Top 25 coaches poll this season. TWU is really good at home and a win here would allow about five teams back in as serious AAC Title contenders.
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • Reinhardt @ Bluefield – Reinhardt sits a game up on the trio of Bluefield, TN Wes and Truett McConnell. This is a game that will be big on the seeding front. With the grouping from 3-7 a loss can send you from a 3-seed to the 7 pretty quickly.

CalPac Notes

  • This league has a unique set up with 3 divisions. The CalPac tournament, though, is huge as both automatic qualifiers go to the teams who make the Championship game.
  • The Top 2 seeds get opening round byes, so teams like Saint Katherine, Simpson and Cal Maritime are all battling for those two important overall seeds.
  • Antelope Valley is also lurking behind and with them hosting the tournament, they could have an advantage from any seed they end up with.

Biggest Games of the Week

  • Tuesday, February 8th
    • UC Merced @ Cal Maritime – The 2nd and 3rd best teams in the North. A CalPac Tournament bid could be on the line in this one!
  • Thursday, February 10th
    • UC Merced @ Westcliff – Both teams need wins to help get them up the standings and in the CalPac tournament.
    • Simpson @ Saint Katherine – A game that could end up deciding who the 1-seed in the tournament is!

CASCADE NOTES

  • A weekend sweep for College of Idaho, coupled with a Oregon Tech loss to Corban, has CoI taking over 1st place with two weeks to go.
  • College of Idaho and Oregon Tech are only two teams to lock up a conference tournament berth and both will be the top two seeds in the bracket.
  • The battle to really watch in the CCC is the final playoff spot. Multnomah and Eastern Oregon are currently in, but they will have to fend off Northwest to stay in!

Biggest Games this Week

  • Tuesday, February 7th
    • Southern Oregon @ Oregon Tech – Some major separation between the 2nd place OiT and 3rd place Oregon Tech, but big game for both as Oregon Tech needs the win to keep applying pressure to College of Idaho and Corban needs the win to keep the 3-seed hopes alive!
  • Friday, February 11th
    • Warner Pacific @ Southern Oregon – Big week for Southern Oregon. They start the week off in 3rd place, but a rough week could send them as far down as 6th. Warner is one of the teams behind them looking to improve seeding.
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • Lewis-Clark St @ Corban – Corban is still fighting to move up to the 3-seed. LCSC has faced a ton of injuries and will look to regroup here and make a charge at the 3-seed these final two weeks of the season. A loss for LCSC almost guarantees them the 5 or 6 seed.

CCAC Notes

  • Olivet Nazarene got the road win over IU South Bend this past week. The win slides them ahead of IUSB for 1st place in the CCAC.
  • Both ONU and IUSB look like a lock to get the first two auto-bids for the CCAC.
  • The 3-seed is going to me so, so important in this league as if the 3-seed can’t win the tournament they still go to the National Tournament if ONU or IUSB win tournament!

Biggest Games of the Week

  • Tuesday, February 7th
    • Saint Xavier @ IU South Bend – Saint X is one of those teams trying to fight for the 3-seed. A win here to start the week, would be HUGE for them!
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • Saint Xavier @ Lincoln – With IU Northwest facing a couple teams near the bottom of the CCAC this week, this is a big week for SXU to keep pace a they have a couple tough road games!

CAC Notes

  • With no actual Conference schedule, the former NAIA Independent league goes to a committee to decide who makes their league tournament.
  • With the unique set up of the league, the only teams we would say are for sure in the tournament will be Florida College, Washington Adventist, Northern New Mexico and the host school, Iowa Wesleyan.
  • For everything else, we will hold off until the bracket is released to go deeper into the CAC.

Crossroads Notes

  • Indiana Wesleyan, this past weekend, won their 23rd straight CL game. Which is a new Crossroads League record. Just an absurd run by one of the NAIA’s best programs!
  • The battle for the 2-seed got more interesting this weekend as St Francis dropped one to Huntington and Marian has answered with 4 straight wins.
  • Two teams won’t be in the CL Tournament, and it looks like it will be Spring Arbor and Goshen who will be left home.

Biggest Games of the Week

  • Tuesday, February 8th
    • Huntington @ 5 @Indiana Wesleyan – A game in which IWU can officially lock up the CL Title with a win. Huntington is also fighting as a bubble team. They came off a big win over St Francis and another upset here may just put them in the National Tournament for sure.
    • 16 Saint Francis @ 24 Marian – The winner here basically will have the 2-seed locked up as long as they don’t have a misstep in the final 3 games.
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • 24 Marian @ Huntington – Huntington has been tough at home and now have a few chances at the end of the season here to improve their resume. Another opportunity at a Top 25 win to help get them an at-large bid.

  • Briar Cliff continues to look good and pick up wins, but CUNE sits a half game back.
  • Jamestown has won 3 straight to get themselves back into 3rd in the league, BUT, there is a 4 team logjam that they are apart of where one loss can send you down a few spots pretty quicky.

Biggest Games This Week

  • Tuesday, February 9th
    • Concordia @ Doane – Doane will be looking for another big home win as CUNE comes to town looking to chase down Briar Cliff for a GPAC title.
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • Jamestown @ Briar Cliff – Again, a loss for Jamestown this week could see them slide from the 3-seed to the 6th or 7th. Briar Cliff has a big 3 game week this week, with two GPAC games. They control their own destiny!

  • GSAC is down to a two horse race between William Jessup and Arizona Christian.
  • This very well could end up being a 4-bid league, so a team like OUAZ holding onto the 4-seed is going to be something to watch for!

Biggest Games This Week

  • Thursday, February 8th
    • William Jessup @ Arizona Christian – The winner most likely wins the GSAC regular season title!
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • William Jessup @ OUAZ – Big week for Jessup as they have two massive road games. The 1st one is the biggest, but even an 0-2 week could get them from 1st to 3rd in the GSAC standings.

Heart Notes

  • WPU has already locked up at least a share of the Heart title, but can lock it up completely with either a win or an Evangel loss. It is their 6th title in 7 years as members of the Heart of America.
  • The big story in the Heart is the Heart South and how it plays out. They have 6 teams vying for 5 spots in the Heart tournament.

Biggest Games This Week

  • Monday, February 7th
    • Evangel @ Baker – Evangel is leading the Heart South, but a tough road game today. The South is so crazy that a couple losses can take you from 1st to out of the Heart Tournament. Baker is one of those teams in the grouping as well.
    • Park @ MidAmerica Nazarene – Both teams are in that logjam in the Heart South. Rocky Lamar and MidAm will look to make the Heart Tournament to keep his final season as head coach alive. Wins are a must with such a tight race.

  • KCAC made the change this week to allow all 13 teams to qualify for the KCAC Tournament.

Biggest Games This Week

SAC Notes

  • USAO took over 1st place last week and answered the bell with a couple of nice wins to hold the lead over SAGU.
  • Oklahoma City ended their nice win streak on Saturday. They remain in 3rd place and will look to hold on to the 3-seed over these next two weeks as John Brown and Wayland Baptist have strung together a couple nice 3 game win streaks and join Tx Wesleyan as teams trying to fight to move up in seeding!
  • The SAC is now allowing ALL 12 teams to get into the tournament with the Top 4 seeds all getting a 1st round bye!

Biggest Games This Week

  • Monday, February 7th

The Sun Conference Notes

  • Southeastern got back on the winning track this weekend and still hold a 1 game lead over Warner and Florida Memorial.
  • With five teams already clinching playoff spots, it leaves just 1 spot left. Keiser currently holds a 2 game lead for that spot.

Biggest Games This Week

  • Thursday, February 10th
    • Southeastern @ St Thomas – STU has won 3 straight games and have clinched a spot in the tourney. A big home win and they would move to just a game back of 1st place in The Sun.
  • Saturday, February 12th
    • Florida Memorial @ Southeastern – A couple big wins this week and Southeastern can essentially claim the Sun title! However, that is no easy task as Florida Memorial is red hot and in 2nd place. If SEC loses to STU on Thursday, this game could be for 1st place in TSC Standings!

    • Concordia @ Siena Heights – Loser is eliminated from WHAC Tournament contention.
  • Wednesday, Feb 9th
