Quarterfinals Breakdown

No. 4 IU East at No. 1 Rio Grande (Ohio)

IU East, coming off of a 4OT win on Monday, now have to travel to top-seeded Rio Grande today. These two have only played once this year with Rio coming out on top 86-69. Rio is led by Shiloah Blevins and Miki Tadic, but it’s their youngsters Kaden Waren and Trent Hundley who have really grown up a lot this season and the two Freshmen have provided a good spark for this Rio team. IU Easts Colt Meyer and Jake Johnson are two of the top scorers in the league. They are capable of giving Rio fits and pulling off the upset. Rio will need to be locked in defensively!

No. 3 Alice Lloyd (Ky.) at No. 2 IU Southeast

IU Southeast is riding a 12-game winning streak headed into tonight’s game. Including beating Alice Lloyd by 15 in their only other matchup this season. Anthony Wales Jr leads them in scoring but Jocobi Hendricks and Glenn Hill have proven they can go off as well. This is a team that has figured some things out and is playing their best basketball yet. As a bubble team, they need to keep improving resume with wins. Alice Lloyd will turn to Will Philpot, who leads the league in rebounds and is averaging a double-double on the season. They haven’t been great on the road this season, so we will see if they can pull off the upset tonight!

No. 4 Ohio Christian at No. 1 IU Kokomo

Ohio Christian is coming off of a big opening round win. Sometimes it’s nice to get those first wins out of the way and it can help to give a team a spark. They will need it tonight as they head to face IU Kokomo. IUK is fresh off of a trip to the NAIA Round of 16 last season. They did graduate quite a bit, but this years team has kept pounding the dirt and have put together a really nice season themselves. They have won 10 of their last 12 games headed into tonight’s game. This is an Ohio Christian team that gave them fits earlier in the year though. IUK did pull out the 4pt home win, but something to keep an eye on tonight as OCU wont play with any fear tonight.

No. 3 Midway (Ky.) at No. 2 Point Park (Pa.)

This game features the Top 3 scorers in the RSC. Donnie Miller, of Midway, leads the way with 21.6ppg. Jo Valrie and Josh Stamps are right behind him with 19.5 and 18.8ppg respectively. Point Park really has put together a really nice semester. They have only lost twice, a 4OT road loss to IU East and a 6pt road loss at Rio Grande. They do need to keep winning games to help improve their resume, but this is a team that can beat some people in the NAIA National Championships if they get in! First off though, they have to get past a tough Midway team that has put together some really nice games. They did lose 3 of final 4 games, and lost to Point Park by 21 points earlier this season, but Midway is a team that can absolutely go off and surprise some teams!
