CCC Championship Breakdown
Both teams have already earned the two CCC auto-bids, now it comes down to bragging rights on winning a title! College of Idaho has been a runaway train in the CCC this season. The finished the regular season 22-0 in Cascade play, thus sweeping the season series with EOU. The last time these two teams met up in Caldwell, the Yotes won 74-56. Eastern Oregon’s Phillip Malatare led the league in scoring this season at just over 19ppg. He put up 18pts in each of the two games against College of Idaho this season. The Mounties come into the championship game on a 7-game winning streak, so they will have some good confidence in this game. The nice part is they can play a little freer as well since they have already punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championships. They no longer have anything to lose! As we have mentioned prior, COI is one of the best defensive teams in the NAIA. Offensively, they are well balanced and can hurt you in a variety of ways. They are the number one team in the NAIA for a reason and they don’t lose at home. EOU has a big mountain to climb to pull off this upset, but as we have seen in other leagues, these games are never a given and EOU will compete hard in this one!
