Sorry again for the delay on getting this out! I want to thank you all for your patience as we worked through getting this out to you all! We got to excited with some of the articles within the magazine, which in return, caused the file to be too large. Something we will take a look at for next year and look at our options on how we can make it better and more efficient! We will also be publishing the articles that we had to take out, one at a time over the next couple weeks to gear up for the season! Basketball wise, it is an exciting time of year filled with a lot of excitement. We can’t wait for the games to start!

The Magazine

We tried to add some new fun details this year! In each league preview you will see:

  • When Was Last National Title?
  • Deepest run the league has made in National Tourney since the merger to one division.

Since the merger, we have yet to have a National Player of the Year winner who wasn’t a 4yr NAIA player. I would argue that 3 of those 4 players were virtual locks headed into the season, and the 4th led his team to a National Title, so that could mean nothing. Either way, with our Preseason Good At Basketball All-American Team, we wanted to help paint the picture of who some of the 4yr NAIA guys were vs some of the Underclassman vs the Transfers.

We had a lot of people asking about ARC’s last year, so we added that into the magazine this year!

Small little detail to not miss as you are looking through the magazine. In the NAIA, we play for what is known as the Red Banners. Now that we are four years down the road into one division of NAIA basketball, thought it would be a cool touch to add in the “Red Banners” to signify those leagues who have won them. (We have had some conference realignment, so while Shawnee State is currently in the River States Conference, they won their title while in the Mid-South!

Most importantly, and I know we just had another big Hurricane hit Florida, but we are donating ALL of our proceeds this year to Montreat Athletics, who were hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Please consider donating!

Donating to Montreat

Normally, our preseason magazine, is a free will donation in which we use the funds to help for our National Tournament travel and hotel costs. However, after seeing the devastation of Hurricane Helene and what it did to one of our own NAIA communities at Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina.

Montreat Cavs Director of Athletics, Garrett Jones, said that their gym and everything inside of it is a total loss. That is the central hub for all things athletics including their athletics training room, weight room, coaches offices equipment and uniforms. I have set the PayPal price for $5 and CashApp allows you to send more. By all means, do not feel obligated to send money if you are struggling yourself. A simple prayer for them and everyone in the path of Hurricane Milton down in Florida works as well! We simply just wanted to help and thought maybe this was the best way to use our platform to do that! If you have questions or concerns, feel free to email us at naiahoopsreport@gmai.com.
