The first poll into December is normally a poll where you start to see some separation amongst teams. However, this year, to be honest, has seen it’s fair share of chaos. That is true in a lot of different forms. While we are still at an “early” part of the season, we have several teams who seem to be at pivotal parts of their season already. The second semester of games will certainly be a lot of fun as a lot of leagues remain bunched up. The RPI, SOS and ARC ratings all come out this week as well. With that, we will have our first Bracketology Report out shortly after. Until then, hope you enjoy the 3rd Edition of our NAIA Hoops Report Top 25!
- Georgetown (KY) | 12-0 | Undefeated and playing some tough defense! The Tigers have wins over ranked Bethel (IN) and RV WVU Tech and RV Saint Francis (IN).
- College of Idaho | 7-1 | Only loss is a road loss to The Master’s. Coming off a big Cascade weekend where they knocked off Southern Oregon and a ranked Oregon Tech squad.
- LSU Alexandria | 9-1 | Only loss is a road RRAC loss to a very good Xavier team who hasn’t lost since opening weekend. Did beat FHU at FHU. Will have another tough road game coming up at OLLU to end their 1st semester.
- Freed-Hardeman (TN) | 11-1 | Only loss is to LSU Alexandria at home. Have beaten a ranked Central Baptist team and a good Tougaloo team. Also beat Arizona Chrisitan. The defending National Champions will end December with four more games against potential tournament teams.
- Arizona Christian | 9-1 | Only loss is to Freed-Hardeman at the Battle at the Beach. ACU has also won games in five different states already and traveled more than anyone in the country to this point. They have a win over a ranked Oregon Tech team, a RV Rocky Mountain team on the road and have beaten Faulkner, Corban, Southern Oregon, UC Merced and Carroll.
- Montana Tech | 10-0 | Have an underrated win over Jamestown and UC Merced. Then a buzzer beater win over ranked LCSC. Big week ahead as they head to Arizona for the Cactus Classic and will face both Arizona Christian and The Master’s.
- Northwestern (IA) | 10-0 | Haven’t lost yet this season and secured a previously Top 10 win over Cumberlands at The Show during Thanksgiving. Big matchup @ Morningside this week!
- The Master’s (CA) | 10-2 | Have wins over College of Idaho, UC Merced and Corban. Lost the UC Merced rematch this past week. Other loss is to Langston. Big week ahead at the Cactus Classic!
- Langston (OK) | 8-2 | Only losses are two road SAC games at Wayland Baptist and at Oklahoma City. Both of which have good wins on the season. Langston has a Top 10 win over The Master’s and another road win against a previously ranked Nelson University. Playing a little short handed right now. Will see if reinforcements come at the break.
- Baker (KS) | 10-1 | Only loss is a road loss, on a back-to-back road trip in Florida to previously ranked Florida Memorial. Have wins over RV Keiser, RV Ottawa, RV Peru State.
- Dordt (IA) | 12-0 | Best win is a road win against RV William Woods. Dordt hasn’t been beat this season and continues to have one of the most prolific offenses in the NAIA.
- Bethel (IN) | 10-1 | Wins over Rio, @ Hutington, vs IWU and vs Saint Francis already. Only loss is @ Top 5 Georgetown. Bethel should get everyone back soon as well.
- Central Baptist (AR) | 9-2 | Losses are to Top 5 Freed-Hardeman and a tough Philander Smith team. CBC did knock off RV William Woods at home and John Brown. Host FHU for a rematch next week in a big one!
- Morningside (IA) | 9-1 | Morningside swept the regular season series with CUNE. Also has a win over Kansas Wesleyan. They face off against Northwestern this week and then head to Arizona to take on Arizona Christian in two weeks!
- Lewis-Clark State (ID) | 7-1 | Only loss is a buzzer beating road loss to Top 10 Montana Tech. Do have wins against Dickinson State and Carroll. Neither of those may seem like good wins, but both have played everyone tough and Carroll has Top 25 wins on the year.
- Grace (IN) | 8-3 | Grace had two early losses to Rio Grande and Cornerstone, then won six straight including a ranked road win over IWU. Lost last week on the road to Spring Arbor before beating Taylor. Head Coach Scott Moore will also be making his return to the sidelines soon!
- Huntington (IN) | 9-2 | Losses are to a ranked Bethel (IN) and RV Saint Francis on the road. Have beaten ranked IWU, RV Cornerstone
- Ave Maria (FL) | 9-2 | Ave is PERFECT outside of one weekend classic in November where they lost to a ranked OLLU team and a previously ranked Mobile team. Now have wins over previously ranked Life and previously Top 10 ranked Cumberlands. Were a preseason Top 25 team who has now won 7-straight games.
- Our Lady of the Lake (TX) | 10-1 | Coming off of first loss of season @ Huston-Tillotson. Have good wins @ ranked Ave Maria and at Wayland Baptist, who has two Top 25 wins themselves.
- Pikeville (KY) | 12-1 | Only blemish is a home AAC game against Reinhardt. Have wins over RV Saint Francis (IN) RV WVU Tech and Dalton State.
- Keiser (FL) | 8-1 | Only loss is to a ranked Baker team back in early November. Schedule outside of that hasn’t been great, but Keiser was a preseason Top 25 team for a reason and have a 1st Team All-American big man to go with one of best PG’s in country.
- Rio Grande (OH) | 8-1 | Only loss was 1st game of year to a ranked Bethel (IN). Schedule wasn’t the greatest but did beat Grace at Grace and previously Top 10 Cumberlands at Cumberlands. Also has a win over previously RV Linsey Wilson.
- Indiana Wesleyan | 7-3 | Losing 3 of 4 coming into a poll isn’t ideal, so call it a respect thing. Or whatever you need to, BUT their 3 losses are all to ranked Crossroads League teams. Two of them on the road. IWU is still a Top 25 team in our opinion and when they start to figure things out they will start to climbing the ranks back inside the Top 15.
- Spring Arbor (MI) | 9-2 | Coming off of a tough road loss to Indiana Wesleyan. Before that they hadn’t lost since November 1st. An 8-game winning streak that included a win over a ranked Grace team.
- Graceland (IA) | 10-0 | Haven’t had that signature win yet, but they haven’t lost to anyone yet either. With only 5 undefeated teams left in the NAIA, they get the nod inside the Top 25.
