Philander Smith @ Texas A&M Texarkana 4:00pm CT Live Video
It hasn’t been brought up a lot, mostly because Texarkana hasn’t played a game yet, but they were actually picked 2nd in the preseason Red River Athletic Conference Coaches poll over #13 LSU-Alexandria. TAMU does return four players from last years squad who made it to the RRAC tournament finals. The main question is how will they look in game one against a Philander Smith team who has played five games already.
18 Dalton St @ Lindsey Wilson 5:00pm ET Live Video
Dalton State had a great run last year before the season was cut short. This is a team that could have made a big run in Kansas City. However, this will be there first game of the year as they hit the road to play a tough Lindsey Wilson team that has already played in four games. Lindsey Wilson is led by Elijah Jordan who averages just under 17ppg.
Keiser vs 13 LSU – Alexandria 5:15pm ET Live Video
Day 2 out in the Battle at the Beach, and the best of game of the day should be Keiser vs 13 LSU-Alexandria. Keiser is red hot now as they have won four straight games. LSU-A comes into this matchup on a two game win streak. The Generals still haven’t looked like the Generals of the past, but it’s still really early in the season. Jordan Adebutu continued his hot start to the year by scoring 15 points on Friday to lead the Generals over Florida Memorial 65-61. Keiser is coming off of a 10 point win over William Carey. They put four guys into double figures and were led by Marko Radulovic with 19pts.
Five Players To Watch
Jaylen McKay 6’0 G IU East – 20.33ppg/7.7rpg/3.3apg/2.3spg
It is good to see Jaylen back playing after an injury cost him last season. The Senior Guard was an All-River States League performer two seasons ago, and is playing at a high level to start the season. Through three games he leads the Red Wolves in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.
Colen Gaynor 6’6 F Lindsey Wilson – 8.3ppg/8.8rpg
Colen is a former NCAA D1 transfer, who actually spent last season at Science and Arts (OK). He is a high motor kid who really pounds the glass hard. His scoring numbers are a bit down from past season, but he is capable of going off for a double-double most nights.ย
C.J. Perry 6’4 G Dalton St.ย
CJ Perry is coming off a very good Junior season where he averaged 12.1ppg. He’s a talented guard who will be leaned on more heavily this season. Him and Rodley Adjei will provide a good scoring punch from the perimeter while newcomer Marquel Wiggins should be a force from the Forward position. The D2 Lander transfer sat out last season, but averaged 17ppg as a Junior at Lander.ย
C.J. Williamson 6’3 G – 23.7ppg/10.3rpg
CJ is a talented guard who can fill up the stat sheet. The D1 Mercer transfer is coming off of a great Sophomore year for the Eagles. He has stepped up into an even bigger role this year, and hasn’t disappointed.ย
Connor Ouellette 6’4 G Texas A&M Texarkanaย
Connor is coming off of a great season where he averaged 17.7ppg and 7.8rpg. He was electric in the RRAC Tournament last year earning All Tournament team honors. Connor should be even better this season as the Eagles look to compete for a RRAC regular season title.ย
One of the articles that, unfortunately, was pulled from this year’s magazine was the Non-Conference games that we have circled to watch! These are simply
