Five Players To Watch

#14 Taiveyhon Mason 5’11 G Campbellsiville

One of the most electric small guards in the country. Taiveyhon can score it from anywhere. He already has 9 games of 20+pts on the season. On top of that, he is also Top 30 in the country in both total assists and total steals. If there is a play being made, Taiveyhon usually has his hands in it. Really, really fun player to watch play!

#22 Luke Harper 6’3 G John Brown

Let’s try this again with Harper. The first time we mentioned him here, he didn’t end up playin. John Brown had been playing short handed to start their season. After going 0-3, they were happy to finally have the 3rd Team All-American back on the floor for their last game. Harper went off for 27 points on Monday against Langston, in his first game of the season. Harper provides the scoring threat that was missing from this JBU team who is looking to build off of Monday’s win.ย

#11 Jordan Hernandez 6’4 G/W Life (GA)

While he isn’t the best player on this Running Eagles team, we really like Hernandez game. He shows flashes of dominance, but he just needs to start being more of a consistent scorer to really raise his level of play. Just a Sophomore, but man when he is hitting the 3 ball be is really fun to watch and can blow games open.

#21 Mubashar Ali 7’0 F Florida Memorial

Mubashar has shown great “upside” this season. Even if he doesn’t come back for 1 more season, the big man moves well for his size. His offensive game isn’t polished so he fights consistently, but he is coming off of a 24pt, 17reb double-double. He is developing and growing into a good pro prospect. We will see if he can use the last game as momentum into the rest of the season. If so, Ali is a kid who could take this talented Florida Memorial team to a new level and make them really tough to beat!

#35 EJ Onu 6’11 F Shawnee State

EJ has had quite the outstanding defensive career for Shawnee, but the big man is really starting to hit his stride offensively this season. Onu can beat you inside and out as he has shown he can be a consistent three point threat if you play off of him. In his last game alone, he made five 3’s on his way to 29 points on 11-13 shooting. Add that to the fact that he is 2nd in BPG this year at 4.1, and is also a Top 20 rebounder in the country and you get a guy who has truly turned himself into a complete player! He is going to have a great Pro career.
