The Daily Dive is your deep dive into the news and notes from around the NAIA Hoops World. Every day we will highlight some of the top headlines, conference updates, player accolades, coaching milestones and more. This used to be our Morning Bullet Points series. We went away from it this year, as others were doing similar things and we didn’t want to step on any toes. At the request of many, we have elected to bring it back for the second half of the season. Feel free to DM us on Twitter (@NAIAHoopsReport) or send an email to naiahoopsreport@gmail.com to recommend stories to be included into this segment.
Recap of Yesterday’s Games of the Day:
Point 67 @ Reinhardt 84 (Full Recap)
A BIG win for Reinhardt last night. The Eagles just created a logjam atop the AAC Standings with EIGHT teams within two games of 1st place! Reinhardt used a big 1st half to take a 47-42 lead at Half. From there they were able to coast into the 17pt win. Kristian Collins paced four Eagles in double figures with 15pts.
Warner 85 @ Florida Memorial 78 OT (Full Recap)
Warner scored 15pts in OT to secure a win and to keep their 1 game lead over Ave Maria in The Sun Conference. The Royals were led by Logan West, who had 25pts and 5 assists in the win. Warner could find themselves in or close to being in the Top 25 today when the poll is released.
#10 Faulkner 85 @ Dalton State 73 (Full Recap)
Faulkner continues to roll as they moved their new win streak to seven! The Eagles were able to grow a six point half time lead into a twelve point win. The dynamic duo of CJ Williamson (17pts) and Jordan Hamlette (25pts, 6assts) continues to be impressive! Hamlette is currently on a crazy good four game streak where he has scored 94 pts over the past four games!
Other Notable Scores:
This USK team is new to the NAIA and the Cal Pac conference and this is their first season eligible for the post season. They have wasted no time making noise as they beat a good Westmont team last night. A team who has nearly played 10 NCAA D1 opponents this season, they used to playing against some good competition and may be a surprise team in that modified Cal Pac tournament next month!
Shoutouts:
– Trevion Crews tends to be overshadowed by being in the same league as Kyle Mangas, but Crews is a monster in his own right and has had one heck of a career for the Pilots! He is one of the best guards in the country and is a ton of fun watch compete!
- – We continue to send our prayers up for Vanguard Women’s Head Coach Russ Davis!
All in all it was a pretty slow day on the NAIA news front! The Top 25 Coaches Poll is set to be released any minute now! We will have that and more later today as we continue to bring you the best coverage in NAIA Hoops!
