Opening Round Breakdown
#1 College of Idaho vs. #8 Bushnell University
Live Stats | Live Video
The No. 1 team in the NAIA, College of Idaho, hasn’t lost since the opening game of the season. The Yotes, don’t have a single player in the Top 10 in scoring in the league. Instead, they hit you with a barrage of players who can all go off. They dare you to take something away and counter with a different look. Johnny Radford, who comes off the bench, leads the Yotes in scoring. He hasn’t had great scoring outputs against Bushnell this year though. Bushnell’s Stevie Schlabach and Spencer Hoffman have been terrific this season. If they are going to pull off the upset tonight, they need their other pieces to step up big. No matter the outcome, this should be a valuable experience, that this youngish Bushnell team can use for next season!
#2 Eastern Oregon University vs. #7 Oregon Tech
Live Stats | Live Video
Eastern Oregon boasts the CCC’s top scorer in Phillip Malatare, who is coming off of a 28pt performance. We have EOU in, even if they don’t get the last auto-bid here in the CCC, but this is a team also playing for seeding. They swept OIT this season and winning 3 straight against the same team is always tough. Keegan Shivers leads OIT in scoring on the season, but it’s been mostly a balanced offensive attack. This game will have plenty of pace to it as well as both teams like to get up and down.
#3 Southern Oregon University vs. #6 Lewis-Clark State College
Southern Oregon’s Atmar Mundu has been really good this year. This is a SOU squad that can sits 3rd in the league in scoring at 81.4ppg. LCSC will look to control the tempo if they are going to get the upset road win here. LCSC has had its struggles this season, but they have won 5 of their last 8 games. They did lose by 34 at SOU on February 10th, however. Another super young team, LCSC, can win this game, but they are going to have to manufacture stops tonight!
#4 Warner Pacific University vs. #5 Corban University

These two are both on the bubble and needing wins. Unfortunately, for Corban, Massie Mohammadi, went down to injury which hurts their depth in this one. Warner Pacific swept the regular season matchup between the two. Corban will look for big games out of Darius Henderson and Mateo Escheik tonight. Warner Pacific will trot out the CCC’s 2nd leading scorer in Thomas Miles. Miles has already put up two nice games against Corban and will look to do so again tonight!
